Department of Government

The Department of Government covers a broad spectrum of political science topics in Austrian and Comparative Politics. The topics include political attitudes and behaviour of citizens, political competition, political communication, political institutions, government coalitions, economic and welfare state politics and policies, as well as research design and quantitative methods. The Shanghai Ranking "Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023" ranks the University of Vienna in the field "Political Sciences" number 50 out of 400 universities of the world.
