Research Centres
Once the maximum funding period has ended, successful research platforms at the University of Vienna were able to be transferred to research centres. These are sub-units of a faculty/centre, which contributes to their funding. They are established following the submission of a proposal that undergoes international peer review. Research centres are evaluated regularly and are funded to a significant extent by third-party funding. They are established for a maximum period corresponding to the duration of their directors’ employment contracts.
Academics from the Faculty of Social Sciences are currently involved in the ‘Religion and Transformation in Contemporary Society’ research centre.
