Research Centre Human Rights
The interdisciplinary Research Centre Human Rights was established as a subunit of the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna in May 2014. The research centre succeeds the research platform Human Rights in the European Context after a six‐year period of successful interdisciplinary research in the field of human rights.
The research centre assembled academics of numerous departments of five faculties (Faculty of Law, Faculty of Catholic Theology, Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences) of the University of Vienna. It cooperated closely with the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights.
The research centre, which was led by Univ.-Prof. Manfred Nowak (Department of European, International and Comparative Law), had the ambition to establish itself as a centre of competence for innovative and interdisciplinary research identifying the most important challenges of human rights developments. The research centre expired at the end of June 2018.
