Institutional Review Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences

The Institutional Review Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences combines expertise from the Faculty's departments. Its composition ensures that disciplinary peculiarities are taken into account. The main task of the Institutional Review Board members is to evaluate the proposed mitigation strategies for ethical challenges. This process involves short written feedback in case of minor concerns. Moreover, regular exchange between the board members fosters critical discussion of good ethical conduct and research principles at the faculty level.

The following departments have decided to form a cluster within the Institutional Review Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences: Department of Social- and Cultural Anthropology, Science & Technology Studies, Nursing Science, Sociology. This cluster serves the purpose of providing additional consultation possibilities across the departments in the event of a more complex ethics case or if there is a potential conflict of interest within one department.
